Sean McVay? Dawg.

The Los Angeles Rams head coach became the youngest head coach in NFL history to win a Super Bowl this past February, and he did it in epic fashion, telling analysts Chris Rose and Joe Thomas that he was gonna get so belligerently drunk while celebrating, that he’s “not gonna remember any of it.”

Instantly, at that moment, I knew he was my favorite coach in the NFL.

Of course, the 36-year-old had every right to party until he was seeing black, because at that moment he was the coach of the greatest football team in the world for the 2021-22 season.

So, it’s pretty obvious that my guy McVay doesn’t mind getting a little loose and slinging a few drinks every now and then.

With that being said, what if I told you he made arguably the most important move in his NFL coaching career, while pounding tequila?

In a recent interview with ESPN’s Seth Wickersham, McVay recalled the time he sat down with future Rams quarterback Matt Stafford on vacation, and they talked football over a few drinks while poolside.

At the time, Stafford was one of the best quarterbacks in the league with nothing to show for it, playing for a God awful Detroit Lions organization.

A little drunk, McVay went back to his hotel and Facetimed the Rams’ front office, demanding they make a move on the guy.

He told them in legendary fashion:

“Here’s the f*cking deal, OK? We can sit here and exist and be OK with winning nine to 11 games, and losing in the f*cking divisional round and feel like, ‘Oh, everything’s OK.’

Or, we could let our motherf*cking nuts hang, and go trade for this f*cking quarterback, and give ourselves a chance to go win a f*cking world championship. You ready to f*cking do this or what?”

C’MON.

Sure enough, the Rams made the move for Stafford, and proved that he is a top five quarterback in the league, all he needed was some help around him.

Love or hate McVay, you gotta have some mad respect for the guy who had the guts to make that call while being a few tequila drinks deep.
