Cody Johnson Had To Turn Down Taylor Sheridan’s Offer To Star In The ‘Yellowstone’ Prequel, ‘1883’

We’ve seen a couple of country music stars get the nod to play roles on the hit TV show Yellowstone, including Ryan Bingham, and most recently Lainey Wilson, who will make her first appearance for the upcoming fifth season of the show.

However, little did I know that no other than Cody Johnson had the opportunity to play a role in the show as well.

Unfortunately, the timing was bad, and Johnson would’ve had to have canceled a significant amount of shows if he would’ve accepted Taylor Sheridan’s offer.

He explained the situation while on Audacy’s Rob+Holly show:

“I know Taylor Sheridan and he asked me about being there, but I’ll just be honest, he gave me very little notice, like a couple of months (and) I’m booked halfway through next year (2023) already.

For what I would’ve had to cancel, I would’ve lost a pretty significant amount of money.

So I said, ‘Nah, I can’t do that’… I was just like, ‘Dude, if you just give me a year. Let me know a year ahead and I could carve out (time). I would love that, I won best actor in high school.

All the hot girls were in drama class, man… I would like to act. I really think that I could get into a role and really take it on, but I would want to do it right.”

In another interview, he clarified that it was actually a role in the Yellowstone prequel, 1883, that he turned down.

But what I’m getting from this, Cody Johnson is officially a jack of all trades. Not only is he one of the best mainstream country artists in the U.S. right now, he also used to ride bulls, and now you’re telling me he can act?

Of course, considering how electric of a performer he is at all of his shows, you can tell the man’s simply born for the big stage.

Nevertheless, we might get lucky and see CoJo make an appearance on some TV show or movie down the road.

There’s always 1923…
