Canadian Hiker Has Insanely Close Encounter With Charging Mama Grizzly Bear

Bears Kitimat

The suspense is killing me.

A woman was just enjoying her day in the woods in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada, sitting at the shore of a river, when she came in close contact with some unwanted company…

And I’m talking about a mama grizzly bear and a couple of her cubs.

In the video, you see the bears chilling in the river, as the videographer stands a less than comfortable distance away.

However, things get way more nerve racking quick, when the curious bears decide to slowly make their way towards the woman.

After a brief false charge, she eventually backs up into the water and moves along the shore to keep her distance, but the curious cubs keep coming.

Next thing you know… one cub (who isn’t all that tiny itself) is only a few feet away from her, to the point where she could probably reach her hand out and pet one of them (I highly don’t suggest doing this, by the way).

And that’s when mama bear comes CHARGING into the water after our hiker.

It’s unclear if she ever makes contact with one of them, but you would think she was getting mauled by the way she was reacting.

However, she must’ve made it out of the situation alright (she clearly was able to submit the footage), but damn if that isn’t a close call.

As she said in the caption:

“Two curious grizzly cubs and a young momma bear. Momma was terrified from all the people and dogs at the river and was just trying to keep her curious cubs safe.”
