Bocephus and the Duckman…
Riley Green opened up a few shows for Hank Williams Jr. this past weekend, and at a stop in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, they teamed up for a rousing rendition of Hank Jr.’s 1982 classic hit, “Family Tradition.”
The song was originally released in 1979 as the fourth and final single and title track from his album of the same name, and ultimately peaked at #4 on the Billboard U.S. Hot Country Songs later that same year.
It’s one that Riley plays pretty often at his live shows these days, so it’s pretty damn cool to see these two country boys finally team up to sing it together.
And ‘Ol Hank Jr. has still got it… that man is like an energizer bunny.
I don’t think you’ll find an artist out there, young or old, who’s as excited as he is to be out on stage playin’ music (he also just dropped a new blues album, Rich White Honky Blues, you should check out if you haven’t yet).
From what I can tell from this video, it looked like a rowdy show with a stacked lineup you wouldn’t want to miss.
I mean, Hank Jr. really said it best himself:
“If I get stoned and sing all night long, it’s a family tradition…”
