This deer’s trip over a waterfall went WAY better than it did for that elk we saw tumble down a waterfall earlier this year.
Incredible video footage of a deer toppling over a 50 foot waterfall and swimming away unfazed has gone viral, racking up over 3 million views over a relatively short timespan.
The video was captured in Tahquamenon Falls State Park in Michigan last year and shows a young deer charging through the water and coming to an abrupt stop at the top of one the biggest waterfalls in the Eastern U.S.
Before the fawn can regather its balance, the current pushes the deer over the falls….
Onlookers expect the worst for the deer, as audible cries of “oh my god” and “nature is a beast” ring out from the crowd.
However as the camera keeps rolling, it becomes obvious that the deer had somehow managed to survive the fall.
The deer finally popped its little head up above the water and proceeded to swim to shore and run off into the woods, leaving the witnesses flabbergasted.
Here’s the story from the guy who witnessed this lucky fawn go overboard:
“I was at Tahquamenon Falls in Luce County, Michigan. There was a fawn running down the river towards us and we all thought it was so cute so I started recording.
Then I realized the deer wasn’t going to stop and it was approaching the waterfall. It fell down the waterfall and I thought it was dead until a few minutes later when I saw it swimming again!
A big question I had is what was it running from and did it end up ok and survive?”
One minute you’re falling off a damn waterfall, death all but certain, and the next… you’re just swimming down the river.
Although I will say, deer are a lot tougher than you’d think.
Remember the Illinois buck that seemingly got caught in a combine or some other kind of farm equipment, and was missing half his back? Despite the massive size of the wound, he was walking around relatively unfazed.
