Watch A Baby-Faced Luke Combs Cover Luke Bryan’s “I Don’t Want This Night To End” Back In 2011

Some Lukes are just better than others…

Over 10 years ago, a then unknown Luke Combs sat down with his buddy to record a cover of Luke Bryan’s huge radio hit “I Don’t Want This Night To End” and my goodness is it better than the original.

At the time, Luke was still playing gigs in his college town of Boone, North Carolina, while enrolled at Appalachian State and bouncing at the same bar he played at, and while people knew he was good, they probably had no idea what was in store…

Okay, maybe some people did have a clue, given how he blew the roof off every single weekend (see this video of him covering “Simple Man”).

Sure, the song is still a Luke Bryan, bro-country type anthem, but his buddy on the six-string gave it a bit of Santana-like rhythm and Luke’s voice? Come on with it…

And if that buddy looks familiar, it’s because he was featured in the music video for his single, and 13th consecutive Number One, “Doin’ This“.

Adam Church was Luke’s right-hand man throughout all those wild college nights and is still crushing gigs in Boone to this day (I had some buddies go see him recently and was told he’s a must see… booking a trip out there soon).

Gotta love how Luke always remembers where he came from, no matter how big he gets, and that’s what makes him the star he is.
