LA Angels Manager Joe Maddon Reportedly Got A Mohawk To Pump Up The Team, But Got Fired Before They Could See It

Expectations were through the roof for the Los Angeles Angels this season.

Although the team went only 77-85 last season, there was a ton of hype surrounding their 2022 team, bringing in a solid lineup with Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout, Anthony Rendon, Matt Duffy, and more.

However, the season was quickly looking like a repeat of last season, as they’ve found themselves third in the American League West, nine games behind the Houston Astros.

In an effort to rejuvenate the season, they fired manager Joe Maddon last week, after the team lost a whopping 12 games in a row (14 total), the worst losing streak in franchise history.

And the worst part about it?

Maddon attempted to turn the team mojo around by cutting his hair into a mohawk… which the team never saw, because he was fired immediately after he did it.

ESPN’s Tim Kurkijan reported the story in a hilarious video documenting the Angels’ atrocious 12 game losing streak and the 68-year-old’s firing.

Talk about kicking a man when he’s down.

Ol’ Maddon was just trying to be the “cool grandpa” and regain some respect from his team, which was probably incredibly difficult considering many think of him as the ultimate “boomer” of MLB management.

And while he had a habit of coaching himself into a mental pretzel (weird bullpen management, walking guys in weird spots), some of those “non-baseball” moves helped the Cubs to a World Series in 2016.

Still, a tough scene, Joe…
