Been watching some Peaky Blinders, eh Kev?
NASCAR driver Daniel Suarez took the checkered flag at the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway, making him just the fifth ever non-US born driver to win a Cup Series race.
The Monterrey, Mexico, native picked up his first career win, dominating most of the race in his #99 Chevy. He now joins Mario Andretti (Italy), Earl Ross (Canada), Juan Pablo Montoya (Colombia), and Marcos Ambrose (Australia) in NASCAR’s non-US born champions.
The win also secures Suarez a spot in the Cup Series playoff, alongside his Trackhouse Racing teammate Ross Chastain.
And while that’s the highlight of the day and the feel-good NASCAR story of the week, it was Kevin Harvick that might’ve had the best sound bite.
After a rough pit stop in the final stage, Kevin Harvick was heard on the radio calling his pit crew a “bunch of wankers.”
“I swear to god we look like the biggest fucking bunch of wankers every week on pit road.”
HAHAHA.
The fact that he called his pit crew a bunch of wankers is just hilarious to me… absolutely hilarious. How can you now like Kevin Harvick?
And granted, Bubba Wallace’s team has been rough this year, Ryan Blaney’s seems to be subpar, Chase Elliott’s was bad today, and Kyle Larson lost a wheel this afternoon, but nevertheless, the 20-second pit stop near the end of the race did cost him some value position that he never seemed to regain.
And in the post race interview, he called out the 20-second pit stop again:
When it comes to his playoff position, Kevin said he’s not worried about it right now.
And while he’s not out of the playoff picture at all, they’re gonna need to clean up those mistakes of they wanna compete at a high level again this year.
