Charles Wesley Godwin Delivers An Incredible Stripped-Down Rendition Of Ryan Bingham’s “The Weary Kind”

Charles Wesley Godwin may be one of the hottest names in the independent country music scene right now.

His 2021 How the Mighty Fall was hands down our favorite albums of last year, as the man tells story after story through each song on the project.

On top of that, the man has been releasing a number of stripped down, acoustic versions of his songs, as well as covers.

Needless to say, it’s incredible what the man can do with just his voice and an acoustic guitar, so I decided to dive deep into the vaults, and found this gem from a year ago…

And it’s the West Virginian covering none other than Ryan Bingham’s “The Weary Kind.”

The song is off Bingham’s 2010 album Junky Star, and if you know anything about the New Mexico native, and now Yellowstone star’s music, it’s that every one of his songs cut deep, and “The Weary Kind” is no different.

A Grammy winner, an Oscar winner… the song was featured in the critically acclaimed film, Crazy Heart, starring Jeff Bridges, Colin Farrell, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

And of course, Godwin blew the cover out of the water.
