Whiskey Riff Song Of The Week: “If You Want A Fool Around” By Mike And The Moonpies

Lyza Renne

Happy Memorial Day, y’all.

First and foremost, a massive and sincere thank you to all of our men and women in the military who put their life on the line every single day to protect our freedoms as Americans, and on this holiday weekend, a very special thank you to the ones who payed the ultimate sacrifice for all of us.

And today for the Song of the Week, we have a tune called “If You Want a Fool Around” by Mike and the Moonpies.

From their fantastic 2019 Cheap Silver and Solid Country Gold and record, the song was written by David Percefull, Billy Troy and Benny Boling.

Filled with some beautiful, woozy steel guitar throughout, the narrator finds himself reminiscing on a relationship with an ex after he runs into her one day and realizes that he’s still in love with her.

If she “wants a fool around,” he wants her to know she can come back to him anytime even though he broke her heart.

If you still haven’t checked out Mike and the Moonpies’ music yet, first of all, what the heck are ya doin’?

And second of all, this is a great place to start… you can’t beat this one live:
