Some heartbreaking news coming out of Glendale today.

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jalen Reagor announced on Twitter today that his friend, and current Arizona Cardinals cornerback Jeff Gladney passed away today.

He was only 25-years-old.

The two played together at Texas Christian University.

According to Fort Worth Star Telegram, Gladney’s agent Brian Overstreet reported that the young cornerback has died in a car accident in Dallas, Texas, early Monday morning.

Overstreet asked for prayers and privacy for the family:

“We are asking prayers for the family and privacy at this most difficult time,”

The Cardinals had just signed Gladney to a two-year deal in March, after he was released by the Minnesota Vikings. He was cut shortly after he was indicted for third-degree domestic violence, but was later acquitted.

The cornerback was a former first-round pick for the Vikings in 2020, signing a four-year, $10,991,030 rookie contract, including a $5,553,476 signing bonus.

In 2020 he recorded 81 tackles, no interceptions, one forced fumble, and three passes defended, while playing in all 16 games.

Rest in peace to a guy that was taken way too soon.
