It Doesn’t Get Any Cooler Than Willie And Waylon’s 1986 Farm Aid Performance Of Their Song “I Can Get Off On You”

You might be cool, but you’ll never be Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings cool…

Back in 1986, my favorite country besties teamed up for a performance of “I Can Get Off On You” at Farm Aid II in Austin, Texas.

And not only was it a great performance, with the two friends playing off of each other and hamming it up for the crowd as they go back and forth singing their parts of the tune, it took place on the 4th of July and Willie is wearing jorts and a cowboy hat with the American flag in the background…

I just don’t think anyone else in country music today could ever do it like that. The genre might’ve peaked on this day.

Of course, “I Can Get Off On You” was a deep cut written by the duo, and was featured on their iconic #1 1978 Waylon & Willie duet album.
