Kenny Chesney And Carly Pearce Team Up For Awesome Duet Of “You and Tequila”

And I thought I couldn’t like this song any more…

Kenny Chesney just kicked off his headlining Here And Now Tour with the great Carly Pearce as his opener.

And this past weekend, they made a stop at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, where they teamed up for an awesome duet of Kenny’s hit “You and Tequila.”

The song was originally written by Matraca Berg and Deana Carter, and released as the fourth single from Kenny’s 2010 album Hemingway’s Whiskey. His original also features a guest vocal from Grace Potter, who you might know as the lead singer of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.

It was also nominated for two Grammys for Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the 54th Grammy Awards in 2012 and peaked at #3 on the Billboard U.S. Hot Country Songs chart.

It’s the first time they’ve done it together live on stage, and as it turns out, happened at the request of Kenny’s mom who was also at the show and is a big Carly Pearce fan:

“We’re at the beginning of a tour we opened last Saturday in Tampa. This is our second night, you know, we’re starting to learn how to walk again, it feels incredible.

We’re changing stuff on the set list, we didn’t do this last week, but my momma is here tonight from Knoxville. And she wanted to meet Carly Pearce, and so when Carly came up on the bus, my mom goes ‘Are you gonna sing with Kenny tonight?’

And I went, ‘Well, it would probably be a good idea.’ So if you don’t mind, Carly please come out.”

Carly trotted out on stage barefoot, a total boss move (and probably the only way to do it you’re on tour with Kenny), where she stepped in for Grace with her angelic vocals and absolutely crushed it:
