Palomino is out TOMORROW.
And Miranda Lambert is giving us another taste of what’s to come with an unreleased song off the new record called “That’s What Makes The Jukebox Play” at the first stop on her The Bandwagon tour in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Written by Miranda along with her “Bluebird” co-writers Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby, she details all the reasons people find themselves at their local watering hole, from heartbreak to finding love and everything in between:
“For the stranger drinkin’ anger on the rocks at the end of the bar,
For the Caroline’s sippin’ their wine hopin’ this is where the good ones are,
For the lover’s makin’ out in the corner booth,
For the one over there, don’t think I didn’t notice you,
That’s what makes the jukebox play,

There’s a song you can lean on,
That’s what makes the jukebox play,
When the night won’t end,
‘Cuz it plays over and over and over again”
It’s a slower song that already sounds like one you can listen to while drinking in the dark and getting all up in your feels.

Of this new record, Miranda says that, even though she couldn’t travel much due to COVID restrictions when she was writing for it, she was inspired by her travels all over the country and her wandering spirit:
“The making of this record has been one of the most fun and creative experiences of my career. Luke Dick, Natalie Hemby, and I went out to my farm in Tennessee in 2020 and started writing songs.
We figured while we have time let’s get out to the country and see what happens. The first one we wrote was ‘Tourist’ and that set us on a path to create something with a bit of a theme.
Since we couldn’t travel at the time, we decided to go on a journey through songs. I hope y’all are ready to travel with us wandering spirits and meet some cool characters with great stories.”
She previously put out three tracks ahead of album release day, including “Strange”, “If I Was A Cowboy” and “Actin’ Up”.
