Johnny Cash, Colter Wall, Dolly Parton… The Music From Amazon’s New ‘Outer Range’ Does Not Suck

Josh Brolin Outer Range

I ain’t mad at it…

I keep hearing about this new Amazon Prime show, Outer Range. Starring Josh Brolin, it’s billed as the next Yellowstone, but with more sci-fi, kinda Stranger Things vibe going on.

But since Yellowstone won’t be back until the fall, and Westerns are all the rage right now, I figured… why not give it a go?

Starring the aforementioned Josh Brolin, along with Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor, Tamara Podemski, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza, Olive Abercrombie, Will Patton and more, it tells the story of Royal Abbott, a rancher fighting for his land and family, who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming’s wilderness.

Here’s a look at the trailer:

But I’ll tell you what… they’re following in Yellowstone’s footsteps because the soundtrack definitely does not suck.

We’re talking Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Colter Wall, Emmylou Harris, and more.

Of course, nothing can really compete with the Yellowstone Soundtrack, but I definitely wasn’t expecting to hear Colter Wall during the first episode.

Not to mention there’s a little Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Leonard Cohen and more.

The first two episodes premiered today (April 15th) on Amazon Prime, with two more episodes dropping every Friday until the season finale.

Dolly Parton – “Mule Skinner Blues (Blue Yodel #8)”

Colter Wall – “The Devil Wears A Suit & Tie”

Johnny Cash – “Cry, Cry, Cry”

Emmylou Harris – “You Can Never Tell (C’est La Vie)”
