You Need To Hear Lukas Nelson Cover The Hell Out Of Tom Waits’ “Come On Up To The House”

Well, shit…

This is the best cover I’ve heard in a long time.

I already think Lukas Nelson can sing literally anything, and he’s proven me right yet again. His cover of Tom Waits’ “Come On Up To The House” is incredible, albeit a bit softer and, honestly, more inviting than the original in my opinion.

Lukas and his band, Promise of the Real, sang it as part of their Soundcheck Songs series back in 2020, for which they also did a phenomenal cover of Dire Straits’ “Romeo and Juliet” that you need to check out, as well.

From his 1999 Mule Variations album, Tom co-wrote the song with Kathleen Brennan. Lukas covered it with his dad, the great Willie Nelson, as well as Sheryl Crow back in 2012, too.

And if you don’t know Lukas’ music already, you are sorely missing out, because he’s one of the most underrated acts out there right now and a true musician in every sense of the word. He comes by it honest, I guess.

I’m seeing him for the first time later this month, and needless to say, I can’t freaking wait… this is what music is supposed to sound like:
