Man, you just hate to hear this.

Last night, news struck the music world that Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins passed away.

The 50 year old drummer was found in his hotel room at the Casa Medina in Bogota, Columbia. The band was set to perform at the Estereo Picnic festival on Friday.

According to local police, Hawkins may have died of a drug overdose. He had reportedly complained of chest pains to hotel staff, and the report indicated that “according to those close to him, the death could be related to the consumption of drugs.”

As of right now however, the cause of death is still unconfirmed.

Hawkins does have a history of drug abuse however, he overdosed on heroin in 2001 and spent a week in a coma.

Born Fort Worth, Texas, Hawkins got his start drumming for Alanis Morissette and Sass Jordan before joining Foo Fighters in 1997. Dave Grohl, a drummer himself, founded the Foo Fighters in 1994, shortly after the death of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.

A number of fellow artists took to Twitter to share their condolences:
