Cody Johnson’s Rendition Of George Strait’s “You Look So Good In Love” Is As Good As It Gets

For my money, Cody Johnson is one of the best in the business.

A staunch advocate for traditional country music, the bull rider turned country star is one of the few in the mainstream carrying the true spirit of country music.

Great song, great voice, great live show… like I said, one of the best in the business.

But if we take it back to 2016, back before the record deal got signed. Back before he was becoming one of three artists to sell out the Houston Rodeo on opening night… Cody Johnson was still a superstar of sorts… in the state of Texas.

And one of my all time favorite CoJo performances? A live acoustic cover of George Strait’s “You Look So Good In Love.”

Written by Glen Ballard, Rory Bourke and Kerry Chater, it was used as the lead single from George’s 1983 album Right or Wrong and would also reach #1 on the Billboard U.S. Hot Country Songs chart as his 3rd #1 single.

And of course, the original from King George himself.
