American Idol Contestant Delivers Soulful Rendition Of Deana Carter’s “Strawberry Wine”

Talk about a soulful voice.

We’re only two episodes in to American Idol 2022, and while the show itself is usually terrible, you can always count on a handful of contestants to impress you.

Singer Mike Parker proved that on Sunday night’s episode.

Parker, a 27-year-old carpenter from Warrenton, Virginia, shared a heartbreaking story before he went on stage to audition, about how his mother’s health had taken a quick decline in only a few days leading up to the audition, and doctors believe she might have Leukemia.

You could see just how much his family means to him, as he couldn’t hold the tears as his parents video-chatted with him before he auditioned.

When Parker got center stage in front of Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, he stated that he would be singing no other than Deana Carter’s hit, “Strawberry Wine.”

He then proceeded to deliver a soulful rendition of one of the iconic ’90s country hit.

Needless to say, it was an easy yes for all three judges, and Lionel Richie was especially captivated by the performance… he even had to give the man a hug.
