Ashley McBryde And Carly Pearce Duet “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” At The ACMs

It doesn’t matter how many times I see Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde perform this song, it never gets old.

They took the stage at the ACM Awards last night to duet their country heartbreaker and current single, “Never Wanted To Be That Girl,” and it was easily one of the highlights.

As co-writers on the song, they became fast friends after working together on it and both undoubtedly have a very bright future of mainstream country music (thank the Lord).

Carly continued her monster year that was 2021, too, taking home the ACM for Female Vocalist of the Year for the very first time last night.

For the most part, the rest of the show that streamed exclusively on Amazon video was uneventful and boring (check out the recap and some of our best tweets HERE), but these two put on a hell of a performance, per the usual.

I mean, really, though… I’d vote for them in a heartbeat:

If you only watch a few videos of some of the performances from the show, I don’t blame you, but make sure this is one of them:

And how about Ashley taking over for Joanna Cotten on backup during Eric Church’s kickass 16-song medley to open the show?

Talk about getting torqued on a Monday night… I need this injected this directly into my veins:
