Halyna Hutchins’ Husband Is “So Angry” That Alec Baldwin Won’t Accept Responsibility For Her Death

Alec Baldwin

Just absolutely heartbreaking.

Only four months removed from Alec Baldwin’s horrific accidental shooting and killing of cinemaphotographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust, the husband is finally speaking out about the tragic scene.

Hutchins’ widow, Matt, joined TODAY with Hoda Kotb to discuss everything he’s been going through since his wife’s tragic death.

He also discussed the disgust he felt when Baldwin said he was grief-stricken over Halyna’s death, but did not accept responsibility.

Matt said it was absurd for the person who fired the fatal bullet to not take any responsibility for their actions, regardless if it was accidental or not.

He also explained the emotional moment when he had to tell their nine-year-old son that his mother had passed away:

“I just had to be very direct and blunt, because going to pick him up and go to the airport to go to Santa Fe, I didn’t want him to think that we were going to be seeing her and having fun together, and getting his hopes up.”

He then noted how the two cried together over the horrible scene.

He also discussed when the two were embraced by Baldwin once they arrived to Santa Fe:

“I feel like to understand that moment, you have to remember the shock we were in. I spoke with Mr. Baldwin and was just for a way through the storm.”

Baldwin still claims that he never pulled the trigger of the prop gun that contained a single live round, and while many believe it’s not possible for the prop gun to fire without pulling the trigger, the district attorney of Santa Fe explained otherwise.

Matt said there were a number of safety lapses on the day of his wife’s death, and there are multiple parties responsible.

Matt and his son have filed a lawsuit against Baldwin, along with several others who were working on the set that day.
