If you’re like me, your eyes have been glued to the news coverage of what’s been going on in Ukraine for the last 12 hours or so.

Obviously, everybody knows by now that Russia launched attacks on the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv and other targets throughout the country, throwing not only Ukraine but the entire world into an uncertain and perilous future.

It’s absolutely heartbreaking, devastating, terrifying, infuriating…you name it, the emotions are there.

But… hunger?

During their coverage of the attacks, CNN had a bizarre transition from coverage of the air raid sirens sounding in Kyiv to a split-screen of…an Applebee’s commercial.

The contrast between the scenes in Ukraine and Zac Brown Band’s “Chicken Fried” playing side-by-side on the screen left people scratching their heads.

Terrible timing.

Even in the middle of a Russian invasion, we can’t get away from Applebees commercials.
