Kelly Clarkson Covers The Hell Out Of Brooks And Dunn’s “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”

Lawd have mercy… that Kelly Clarkson can sing a dang country song.

She’s covered plenty of ’em on her show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, before, like “Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox (If I Die)”, “How Blue”, “You Look So Good In Love” and “Blue Eyes Cryin’ In The Rain”.

Yesterday, she did a totally kickass rendition of Brooks & Dunn’s classic “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”, and it’s easily the most fun country song she’s done for Kelloke thus far.

The track was originally recorded by Asleep at the Wheel for their 1990 album, Keepin’ Me Up Nights, but was made most famous by Brooks & Dunn when they included it as the fourth single from their 1991 debut album Brand New Man. It went on to become their fourth consecutive #1 on the U.S. Billboard Country Songs chart.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… we need a country album from Kelly. Her voice is just too damn good, and she clearly has an immense respect for the genre that most artists on mainstream radio don’t even have.

Hell, even if she just went into the studio and recorded all the covers she’s already done on her show, it’d be one of the best records of 2022.

This’ll getcha in a honky tonk mood on a Saturday morning:
