Earlier today, we shared the news of the scary scene in which sports photographer Kelly Smiley fell off the stage while videoing Matt Stafford at the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl parade and party.
Smiley ended up fracturing her spine, and breaking both of her cameras.
It was hard to watch, and a little bit frustrating to see Stafford turn and walk away after he saw the photographer fall.
OOF… c’mon, Matt.
And you can see from the end of the video… she fell clean off the stage. It was probably a good 5-6 feet… maybe more?
However, after Matt’s pretty embarrassing display of what some might call intoxicated cowardice, the Los Angeles Rams, Stafford and his wife Kelly are pitching in to pay all of Smiley’s hospital bills, and for her broken cameras as well.
The team released a statement that read:
“We have been in communication with Kelly Smiley since yesterday’s incident and we are sorry for what happened.
As we told Kelly, we will be covering all her hospital bills and replacing her cameras. We wish her a speedy recovery.”
On top of that, her friends started a GoFundMe to help support hospital costs and new cameras, which has already reached over $43,000, beating their goal of $30,000.
Not sure who is getting that but sounds like some folks might be due a refund.
