Jake Owen Delivers Cover Of Vern Gosdin’s 1990 Hit, “Is It Raining At Your House”

I think it’s pretty safe to say that Vern Gosdin is one of the most underrated artists tin country music.

For the most part, you don’t hear his name in the conversation with the likes of Keith Whitley, Randy Travis, and the George Strait, but ask many of today’s country music stars about their influences, and you’ll definitely hear Vern Gosdin.

Nicknamed “The Voice,” Vern is a favorite of artists like Josh Turner, Jamey Johnson, and Jake Owen.

And on this rainy Thursday evening, Jake treated fans to a cover of Gosdin’s “Is It Raining At Your House.”

Written by Gosdin, alongside Dean Dillon and Hank Cochran, it was released on his 1988 album Chiseled In Stone, and then later released as the second single from his 10 Years Of Greatest Hits album in 1990. Peaking at #10 on the Billboard country charts, it was the last hit of Gosdin’s legendary career.

It was later recorded by Jamey Johnson, Brad Paisley, and Lorrie Morgan.

I’ve always thought Jake could sing classic country tunes as well as anybody on country radio… this is just another example.
