Cody Johnson Delivers Incredible Acoustic Cover Of Gary Stewart’s “She’s Acting Single”

Cody Johnson has done it again.

I’m loving these acoustic versions of his songs here lately.

Last week, he blessed us with a stripped down, full band version of “Dear Rodeo,” full of steel, fiddle, and acoustic guitars.

And this week, he put out and acoustic version of “She’s Acting Single,” a cover of Gary Stewart’s original 1975 hit.

Written by Wayne Carson, it was released in March 1975 as the third single from Stewart’s sophomore studio album, Out of Hand. It was Stewart’s only song to top the charts.

The song is an old-school twanger with a classic country feel, as he sings about his significant other acting like they’re not in a relationship when they’re not together, and although she brushes it off like nothing is wrong, he’s slowly seeing the end in sight.

Needless to say, this is not one you want playing on the jukebox at your local bar after your girl has just called it quits with you.

Just pay attention to that gorgeous fiddle, and wailing steel as the song carries on… my God, there aren’t many artists in the game right now that can do what Cody does.

And of course, the original:
