Former star NFL running back Adrian Peterson has been arrested for felony domestic violence.
The incident occurred at Los Angeles International Airport, after airport police got a call around 8:30 AM over a disturbance on an aircraft leaving LAX heading towards Houston, according to TMZ.
Sources say that the plane had to turn back around and link up with the gate again after a verbal and physical argument occurred between Peterson and his wife, Ashley.
After a preliminary investigation, along with making required notifications to the FBI, the ex-Minnesota Vikings running back was taken into custody.
After Peterson was taken off the plane, the flight was able to depart safely, with Ashley staying on board.
The two of them were in Los Angeles the night before, attending a Super Bowl event put on by DIRECTV. There’s still no info on what exactly caused the disturbance.
A rep for the Petersons issued a statement on the incident:
“Earlier today Adrian and his wife Ashley had a verbal argument on a flight, and he was removed from the plane. This is a private misunderstanding between husband and wife and we anticipate it will all be resolved shortly.”
Peterson is best known for his time with the Minnesota Vikings, and was most recently with the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks during the 2021-2022 season.
But man, this one really sucks. Any kid growing up in Adrian’s prime always dreamed of being the guy one day.
A sad situation all around.
