After Ed Orgeron came to a mutual agreement with LSU that he would call it quits at the end of this past season, I’ll be honest…
I didn’t think there was a chance in hell that dude would ever step foot on the football field as a coach again.
I mean seriously, a Louisiana native who had been dying for a chance to coach at LSU his whole career, and won a National Championship with arguably the greatest college football team of all time, along with the fact he had a staggering buyout of almost $17 million, I really thought he would’ve called it quits and sneak off to New Orleans with a 25-year-old “Lil’ Bebe.”
Especially, after he jokingly said in his final press conference that he’ll be able to afford a cheeseburger or two.
However, that may not be the case.
He came on for an interview with WGNO News New Orleans, and teased a possible return to coaching, while also thinking about working in TV.
Except, he admitted that there would be one team in particular that he would never consider joining as a coach…
And that’s the mighty Alabama Crimson Tide.
When asked about possibly joining the Tide’s staff as a Defensive Coordinator, he quickly said:
“It will never happen… Don’t have to worry about that, that will never happen with Ed Orgeron, I promise you.”
You had to sense there’s a little hate between Coach O and ‘Bama, especially after his comments after beating them back in 2019, when he said:
“We gonna beat their ass in recruiting. We’re gonna beat their ass every time they see us.
You understand that? Roll Tide what? Fuck you!”
