Aaron Watson Pens Thank-You Letter To His Wife In Title Track Of Upcoming Album, ‘Unwanted Man’

No frills, straight to the bone country music.

That’s what you get out of Aaron Watson, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

The Texas star is gearing up to release the 18th album of his career (some live and Christmas ones included) which is an tip of the cap to the work ethic and nose to the grindstone mentality he brings to his craft.

Titled Unwanted Man, the upcoming album is going straight for “the jugular of mainstream country music”, as he phrased it on the Whiskey Riff Raff Podcast.

The title track, however, is not so much an attack as it is a thank you.

Written for his wife, Aaron speaks about not meaning much to anyone until she came around, using some great, specific examples to create a down and out picture of his life before her.

“Like an old worn-out corduroy coat
Down at the lost and found
I meant nothing to no one
Till you picked me up off the ground
Like a stray dog off of the streets
I was shivering to the bone
You gave me shelter from the cold freezing rain
Inside the comforts of your home”

Perhaps a slight shot at the industry and their refusal to promote him with the whole “meant nothing to no one” and “was a shivering to the bone” lines, but the song is absolutely more of a thank you to his wife Kimberly.

Just another solid song out of the Amarillo native.

Can’t wait for the rest of the album.
