With all the talk about Post Malone maybe possibly one day doing something country and the insane success Morgan Wallen is having on “Broadway Girls” with Lil Durk, it’s at least a possibility we may see something like this for real one day soon.
YouTube user Twotone mashed Morgan’s “This Bar” with Post Malone’s “Overtones,” an unreleased demo, and it’s, well, interesting…
It’s not my style… I suppose I’ll take Morgan’s stripped down Dangerous Sessions over this all day, but it’s pretty clear that a lot of people are enjoying his “Broadway Girls” side.
Don’t get me wrong, his fans that lean more towards traditional country probably feel the way that I do, but the song is Top 10 in the world right now… you can’t argue with the numbers.
However, the reception begs the question… are we gonna see more of this in the future? Country music coming into the hip hop space? Lord knows there’s enough hip hop influence in mainstream country music right now…
You can decide for yourself, but it’s gonna be a no from me, dawg.
But hey, if Morgan and Posty do every decide to work together, I hope they decide towards the style of Posty’s cover of “You Can Have The Crown” or “I’m Still A Guy.” if that’s the case, then sign me the hell up.
