Throwback To Miranda Lambert’s Kick*ss Cover Of Jessi Colter’s “Storms Never Last” At The Grand Ole Opry

Miranda Lambert can sing the hell outta some classic country.

From “I Ain’t Livin’ Long Like This”, to “Crazy”, to “The Way I Am”, she regularly pays her respects to the legends of the genre that came before her.

And today, I want to take a look back at her performance of Jessi Colter’s song “Storms Never Last” at the Grand Ole Opry in 2015.

The song was a solo write by Jessi, the final track on her 1975 album, I’m Jessi Colter, but was later recorded by her husband, the great Waylon Jennings, for his Music Man album in 1980.

The following year, they included it as a duet on their collaborative Leather And Lace record.

Miranda has long been a huge fan of both Jessi and Waylon, and she even named two of her dogs after the duo.

She recently lost Jessi, who got her name when Miranda was driving around listening to the I Am Jessi Colter album when she stumbled upon two puppies on the side of the road in Oklahoma and took them in.

This is one of my favorite songs by the country music power couple, and I could listen to Miranda sing it all damn day:

Waylon and Jessi singing it together back in the day:
