An early Christmas present for some Morgan Wallen fans… and a head-scratcher for the rest of us.
Back a few months ago, Morgan shared a clip of a new hip-hop sounding song called “Broadway Girls.”
Likely inspired by his own experiences hanging out at Jason Aldean’s bar on Nashville’s famous strip of honky tonks, a lot of his fans (including me) weren’t impressed with the direction the song went… because it’s not remotely country at all.
But the song absolutely blew up on TikTok, and with its viral success, you just knew that Morgan was going to drop a full version of “Broadway Girls” at some point.
And during his recent appearance on Ernest’s podcast Just Being Ernest, Morgan even teased that he had some “options” up his sleeve for the song.
Well now, I guess we know what he was talking about because Morgan just dropped a surprise full version of “Broadway Girls” featuring rapper Lil Durk.
Morgan and the Chicago rapper were also recently spotted filming a music video for the song in downtown Nashville.
I’ve gotta admit, I was really hoping this song was just him goofing around in the studio and not a song he would be seriously releasing.
I like some of Morgan’s more country stuff, but he loses me in a hurry with the pop and R&B production that’s featured on a large number of his songs.
So yeah, not a fan of this one…
But with the song’s viral success on TikTok, I have a feeling I’m going to be in the minority here (fine by me) and this song’s going to be a mega streaming hit for Morgan.
