Graycie York Does A Beautiful, Stripped-Down Cover Of The Turnpike Troubadours’ Stunner “Diamonds & Gasoline”

A person with blonde hair

I don’t know if I’ll ever get over the fact that the Turnpike Troubadours are reuniting as a band.

Good things come to those who wait, though, and after a two-year long hiatus, they’re officially BACK together, have a show on the books at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado next year (congratulations if you were one of the lucky few to get tickets), and likely have some new music on the horizon, as well.

And, of course, the internet is freaking out because this is the news we all hoped would one day come when Evan and the band felt like it was the right time.

Now that he’s sober and had plenty of time to be with his family and recharge at a ranch down in Texas, the stars aligned and 2021 was saved by the boys from Oklahoma.

Plenty of other artists in the Red Dirt scene and beyond shared their excitement over the news, and Graycie York, a young and up-and-comer in Texas, even covered one of their songs in honor of the momentous occasion.

She posted a video of herself singing their incredible track “Diamonds & Gasoline,” and though nothing will ever compete with the original, Graycie has such a beautiful voice and puts her own unique spin on the song with just an acoustic guitar backing her.

A solo write by frontman Evan Felker and the title track to their 2010 record, “Diamonds & Gasoline” is definitely up there on my list of favorite Turnpike songs.

Check out her cover… you’ll be glad you did:
