On This Date: Tim McGraw Makes His SNL Debut In 2008… And It’s Hilarious

Saturday Night Live has had its ups and downs over the years, but sometimes they just get it right.

On November 22nd, 2008, Tim McGraw made his debut on the iconic late night sketch show and crushed his part.

Similar to now, a James Bond movie (Quantum Of Solace) had been released recently, so the writers decided to explore the overlap of two seemingly unrelated worlds. However, rednecks and elite British foreign intelligence agents have one thing in common… poker.

Granted, rednecks tend to use it as an excuse to get away from the wife and crush some Bud Heavies with the boys and spies use it as a way to infiltrate underground crime-rings, but still, the game is the reason for being in the room.

Honestly Tim, I mean “Dwayne Bodine,” crushed the sketch. I don’t often laugh to SNL, but this is a goodie.

Crack one open and enjoy.

So what if it’s Monday morning, it’s Thanksgiving week, there are no rules…
