Last night, we received the devastating news that Alec Baldwin accidentally shot two people on set of his upcoming western movie Rust, killing cinemaphotographer Halyna Hutchins.

And as more details begin to emerge, we now know that Baldwin was given a gun with a single live round, according to Indie Wire.

An email from a union that covers prop masters stated that there was a live round in the gun, and also stated:

“Local 44 has confirmed that the Props, Set Decoration, Special Effects, and Construction Departments were staffed by New Mexico crew members.

There were no Local 44 members on the call sheet.”

According to Showbiz 411, Baldwin, who was devastated, repeatedly asked after the accident why he was given a prop with live rounds:

“In all my years, I’ve never been handed a hot gun.”

The other victim of the shooting, 48-year-old director Joel Souza, was released from the Christus St. Vincent Medical Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

There are still no charges at this point, as the incident remains under investigation.

Halyna Hutchins had previously worked on films such as Archenemy starring Joe Manganiello, The Mad Hatter, Blindfire and more.

She was named “rising star” by American Cinematographer in 2019.

RIP.
