Reba Makes Music Video For “I’m A Survivor” 20 Years After Original Song Release

Reba is gearing up to release some new(ish) music this Friday.

It will be in the form of a triple album called Revived, Remixed, Revisited, which is essentially a fresh spin on a greatest hits album.

Revisited was produced by Dave Cobb, and is a more acoustic, stripped-down record which “I’m a Survivor” will appear on. Revived will also include some of her biggest hits, but will feature much heavier production along the lines of a live album. Lastly, Remixed will be an entire album of EDM-style takes on her classic songs.

And yesterday, she released a new, stripped-back, piano-only version of her iconic hit “I’m a Survivor”.

The song was originally released as the lead single in 2001 from another greatest hits album, Hits Volume III: I’m a Survivor. Of course, many of us remember it as the theme song to her hit TV show “Reba” that started back in 2001 and ran for six years.

Funny enough, the first episode of her sitcom set in Houston, Texas aired on this date back in 2001.

And can we take a second to appreciate what a good show that was? I remember watching it after school all the time, and I freaking loved that theme song even though I knew absolutely nothing about what she was talking about at the time.

Every now and then I’ll catch a rerun on TV, and I think, Reba was, and still is, too freaking cool. Though the song did run a the beginning of every episode of “Reba” and featured a highlight reel from the show, oddly enough, they never made an official music video for it.

Until now… Check out the music video for “I’m a Survivor” 20 years later.

Better late than never, right?
