NASCAR history was made at Talladega this week.

Taking the checkered flag in a rain-shortened YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, Bubba Wallace became only the second black driver to take home a Cup Series victory.

Joining Wendell Scott, Bubba’s win broke a nearly 58-year winless streak for black drivers.

An emotional victory for Bubba no doubt, he teared up during the post race interview:

“This is for all the kids out there that want to have an opportunity and whatever they want to achieve, and be the best at what they want to do.

You’re going to go through a lot of bullshit. But you always got to stick true to your path and not let the nonsense get to you.

Stay strong. Stay humble. Stay hungry. Been plenty of times when I wanted to give up.”

And while a number of playoff drivers were looking to win the race and punch their ticket to the next round, his win was celebrated by rest of the field.

Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and more of his fellow drivers took to social media to congratulate him on the historic victory.

This Sunday, Kevin Harvick, Christopher Bell, Alex Bowman and William Byron will head to Charlotte in danger of elimination as the final leg of the Round of 12 gets underway at The Roval.

The Bank of America Roval 400 kicks off this Sunday, October 10th at 1pm CT.
