At San Quentin was recorded live at San Quentin State Prison in San Quentin, California, on February 24, 1969, and it boasted some badass live performances of his hits like “A Boy Named Sue,” “I Walk the Line,” and “Folsom Prison Blues.”
The album saw a ton of success, as it was nominated for several Grammys, like Album of the Year and Best Male Country Vocal Performance for “A Boy Named Sue.”
