One HELL of a finish at Bristol this past weekend.
Kyle Larson and Kevin Harvick were battling for the checkered flag, Tyler Reddick and Aric Amirola were doing everything they could to try and avoid elimination, William Byron was trying to stay alive… you needed three TVs to follow everything in real time.
But obviously, the highlight of the night was the fireworks between Chase Elliott and Kevin Harvick.
With 35 laps remaining at the Tennessee short track, Harvick made a move to pass Elliott for the lead, but in doing so, he rode Elliott up towards the wall, clipping his left front tire.
Elliott was forced to pit and swap tires, ending his shot at a Bristol victory.
And you could say he was pissed:
“That motherfucker does that shit every fuckin’ week! Drives right into you and get a flat tire. Fuck him!”
When Chase emerged from pit road, fresh tires and all, he had one thing on his mind… make sure Harvick didn’t win.
“Where’s the 5 at? I’ll help him out.”
Of course, the #5 belongs to his teammate Kyle Larson who was challenging Harvick for the win. Elliott and #9 car essentially let the Larson pass him, and blocked Harvick in the Subway #4 from being able to make a run for the win.
The two had it out immediately after the race, Harvick calling it a “chicken shit” move (kind of like leaving your helmet on for a fight).
They may have squashed the chance at fisticuffs in the hauler, but don’t think this beef won’t continue throughout the playoffs… and I LOVE it. Well find out this Sunday as the second round of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs begin in Las Vegas at the South Point 400.
It’s Bristol, baby.
