Damn, this one sucks…

Legendary comedian and Saturday Night Live icon Norm Macdonald has passed away at the age of 61. He was fighting a long, private battle with cancer for the past nine years.

According to Deadline, his longtime producing partner and friend Lori Jo Hoekstra was with him when died:

“He was most proud of his comedy.

He never wanted the diagnosis to affect the way the audience or any of his loved ones saw him.

Norm was a pure comic. He once wrote that ‘a joke should catch someone by surprise, it should never pander.’ He certainly never pandered.

Norm will be missed terribly.”

Norm was an SNL cast member from 1993-98, most notably for his appearances on the “Weekend Update” segment. He also starred in his own show, The Norm Show, following his departure from SNL. He also did a one-season talk show for Netflix, Norm Macdonald Has A Show.

The comedy world has lost a true legend.

Gone, but never forgotten, here’s a highlight reel of his best clips from “Weekend Update.”

And Celebrity Jeopardy.

And another 30 minutes of his best clips.

RIP Norm.
