Luke Combs Leads App State Football Team In “Beer Never Broke My Heart” Postgame Locker Room Celebration

LET’S GO.

Appalachian State put a hurtin’ on East Carolina this past Thursday, something to the tune of a 33-19 whoopin’ to start the season 1-0.

And while you can imagine that the postgame celebration at App State is always a little rowdy, it got extra rowdy when Luke Combs showed up last Thursday.

Luke is of course an alum of App State (as is Eric Church, but that’s another story), and was in town headlining his first career stadium show at Kidd Brewer Stadium.

After the game, Luke scooted on over to the locker room where the fellas hoisted him up on their shoulders for an epic team-wide, locker room sing-along of “Beer Never Broke My Heart.”

A badass moment for Luke no doubt, but headlining the stadium two days later was where the real magic was.

A full circle, goosebumps, never gonna forget this as long as I live kind moment for Luke, he packed 34,114 screaming fans into the stadium on Saturday.

“This show was a long time in the making for me. I attended college at Appalachian State University.

I taught myself to play guitar 10 years ago in Boone, NC. I wrote the first song that I ever wrote here. And on September 4, 2021, I played my first stadium show in that same town.

It’s hard to believe. Thank you, Boone, NC! I will never forget this day as long as I live.”

If there’s a bigger star in country music right now, I haven’t see ’em yet…

Luke also closed out the show with an extremely appropriate cover of Eric Church’s “Carolina.”
