It’s a sad day for the Tiger King kingdom.
Erik Cowie, one of Joe’s top zookeepers at The Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park, has died at the age of 53.
According to TMZ, a friend found Cowie’s body this past weekend, lying face down in his New York City bedroom.
No foul play is suspected, and no drugs were found at the scene, however sources are expecting a toxicology report to be performed. He admitted to a history of alcohol abuse on the show, and was even recently arrested for DUI in the state of Oklahoma.
Although, he never showed up at court and a warrant was issued for his arrest regarding the DUI. It appears as though he may have fled the state and was hiding in New York.
Despite being one of Joe Exotic’s right hand men for a number of years, Cowie actually testified against Joe Exotic regarding his cruel treatment of animals. Joe still remains in prison on charges of animal abuse and murder for hire regarding fellow tiger owner Carole Baskin.
One of Cowie most hilarious scenes was when he ripped Skippy a new asshole for being a moron.
