On This Date: Alan Jackson And Jimmy Buffett’s “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” Was Topping The Charts

Funny you should ask, Alan.

There ain’t a person on this planet who doesn’t recognize Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett’s certified banger, “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.”

It’s the perfect song when it comes to beach drinkin’, day drinkin’, hell maybe even Monday afternoon office drinkin, but no matter what, you can’t physically listen to the song without picturing yourself at a beach bar pounding some tequila like there’s no tomorrow.

It’s also hard to find a song with more one liners as well:

“It’s always five in Margaritaville come to think of it.”

“I’ve been to Margaritaville a few times, stumbled on my way back.”

“What time zone am I on? What country am I in?”

The list goes on… just legendary stuff right there.

And perhaps the craziest part about the song, is that 18 years ago today, it was number one on the charts, holding its spot for a staggering seven straight weeks.

Released in 2003, it further proved that Jackson was more than just a ’90s country star… not to mention the fact that he just put out a phenomenal album this year as well. The definition of a timeless artist.

What happens when you get a good ol’ boy from Georgia, and a beach king together?

A fuckin’ masterpiece… that’s what.
