Tyler Childers Covers Kris Kristofferson’s “Help Me Make It Through The Night” At Hinterland Music Festival

A CLASSIC.

If you’re ever seen Tyler Childers live, you might’ve heard him cover the Kris Kristofferson hit, “Help Me Make It Through The Night.” (If you haven’t seen him live, you need to fix that, ASAP).

Written by Kris and released on his 1970 album Kristofferson, it’s been recorded by everyone from Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson, to Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn.

And in the last couple years, it’s been a recurring tune in Tyler’s set.

Hinterland Music Festival is underway this weekend in Iowa, featuring headlining performances from Tyler, Avett Brothers and Leon Bridges, in addition to sets from Marcus King, Zach Bryan, Paul Cauthen, Charley Crockett, Kelsey Waldon, Vincent Neil Emerson and more.

Tyler took the stage last night, and in addition to the vast number of great tunes in his repertoire, he pulled “Help Me Make It Through The Night” out of his bag of tricks.

And as a kid that grew up near the Iowa/Illinois border, what I would’ve have given to hop across the state line, grab a Busch Light and a slice of Casey’s pizza, and listen to Tyler sing me straight to my happy place.

But for me and the rest of us that weren’t able to make it, the ol’ YouTube is gonna have to do.
