I freaking LOVE Dolly Parton.
I’m convinced there’s absolutely nothing she can’t do, and today, she proved me right again.
While she’s always kept her relationship with her husband of 57 years quiet (on purpose), today, she’s giving us all a glimpse at his birthday present.
When I tell you she’s pulling out all the stops, I mean it…
She recreated her iconic 1978 Playboy cover for him. Yes, it’s true. She really did.
Last year, she said she’d be totally down to do it again when she turned 75, but that came and went back in January and nothing ever came of it. And, since they no longer run a print version of the magazine, the idea kind of fizzled out for a while.
But, being the Queen that she is, she’s finally delivered on her promise… at least in some capacity.
Read it and weep, guys:
“Hey. Today is July 20, it’s my husband Carl’s birthday, and you’re probably wonderin’ why I’m dressed like this, well it’s for my husband’s birthday. Remember sometime back I said I was gonna pose on Playboy magazine when I was 75?
Well, I’m 75 and they don’t have a magazine anymore, but my husband always loved the original cover of Playboy, so I was trying to think of something to do to make him happy.”
Ya think, Dolly? Probably the happiest man on the face of the planet today.
“He still thinks I’m a hot chick after 57 years, and I’m not gonna try to talk him outta that. And I hope he agrees, what do you think?
Anyway, what I did for his birthday, I did a little photoshoot in this little outfit and I had a cover made of the new Dolly, or the old new Dolly, and in the first one, see remember this?
I was kind of a little butterball in that one, well I’m string cheese now, but he’ll probably think I’m cream cheese, I hope.”
I’ve said this plenty of times and I’ll say it again: protect her at all costs. A NATIONAL TREASURE.
“Anyway, I’m gonna surprise him going in singing to him in my little bunny suit, so what do you think? You think Playboy oughta pay me for at least the photoshoot? I do.”
I think Playboy oughta do whatever the hell it is you want them to do, Dolly.
But I don’t think anyone will ever come up with a better birthday present idea for the rest of time. I’m 1000% sure Carl agrees with me. Also, how in the world can the woman look that dang good at 75 years old? Some things I will never understand.
