Whoops…
A fireworks display in Ocean City, Maryland, accidentally discharged this morning, sending various explosions out in every direction. The blast injured a number of employees of the fireworks company, however they were mostly minor.
No beachgoers were injured in the blast.
According to the Fire Department, the display was being set up for the city fireworks show later this evening.
“There was an unintentional discharge of fireworks that were being set up on the beach for the Town’s fireworks show.
During the unintentional discharge, employees of the fireworks company received minor injuries and refused transport to the hospital.
Prior to the fireworks being off loaded from the vehicle, Fire Marshals secured a safe zone around the fireworks and put other safety protocols in place. It is this very zone and safety protocols that kept anyone else from being injured.”
Not off to a good start today, eh?
