Florida Man Filing Charges After MMA Fighter Joe Schilling Knocked Him Out In A Bar

A group of people in a room

It was just a matter of time.

Earlier this week, we all saw MMA fighter Joe Schilling obliterate a dude with a quick two-punch combo after the guy squared up to him in bar.

Schilling bumped into him, the guy flexed, and Joe promptly knocked him out cold.

Yes, it was kind of hilarious, kind of absurd… but we all knew the inevitable was on its way…

A charge.

But was there more to the story? This is Joe’s take:

“The busboy who happens to be black walks by and this idiot bumps into him and screams out, ‘Me and broke n****s, we don’t get along.’ The busboy was seriously offended but doesn’t want to lose his job.

As the night goes on this clown starts looking at me and rapping whatever song is being played while making eye contact with me. I’m like what’s wrong with this idiot. He yells, ‘HEY’ I turn around and he flexes on me… bad decisions are made every day.

As you can see from this video when he flexed on me I was scared for my life and simply defending myself against the evil in this world.”

Self defense is pretty laughable and while it sounds like this guy is a complete tool, I don’t think Joe was in any immediate danger.

But, according to SBNation, the 37-year-old could potentially be facing a battery charge for the incident.

The police were in contact with Schilling, after Justin Balboa, a 31-year-old employee at Outback Steakhouse in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, contacted police, claiming the fighter “hit him for no reason.”

According to the manager of the bar, Balboa was highly intoxicated (quite obvious in the video), and may have made a derogatory remark about Schilling’s girlfriend/wife.

It was also noted that Balboa is notorious for stirring the pot and getting in trouble at the bar.

According to the police report, many people at the bar took the side of the manager.

However, Balboa decided to press charges, and his attorney Robert Solomon had this to say to MMA Fighting:

“It was something that should not have happened.

It should not have happened. You watch that video and you cringe. This is a professional fighter. To tell me you felt threatened as a professional fighter that’s fighting at the highest level of all fighting, Bellator and all these things, I don’t buy it.

I think it was uncalled for, and there’s consequences when you do things like that. I think a professional fighter overreacted to a situation, that he didn’t need to do what he did.

And to punch somebody as hard as he punched this guy, he’s lucky he’s not dead and we’re dealing with a different type of cause.”

Balboa has a head injury from the incident, but Solomon doesn’t know the extent of it.

Now we can all agree on one thing, the video was high quality entertainment, but at the end of the day, was it really worth it? Probably not…

In case you missed the video…
