Trust me, I feel your pain, but in times of heartache and struggle, country music is just the medicine you need.

If you’ve lost your dad like I did, Father’s Day can be a pretty rough weekend. When you lose a loved one, there’s always a lot of healing that needs to happen, and that can be painfully slow process, but since losing my dad, music has been my saving grace.

From the day I got the news until now, I’ve been compiling all the songs that have helped me in some way. Some are just about dads, some about loss in general, some provide the advice that I think he would give, and some just let me know that it’s okay to feel. All are songs that I know we’d be singing along with together if he was still here.

So here’s 25 songs to listen to when you need a reminder of his presence, when you need some comfort, when you’re feeling sad, or when you just miss him.

Remember that he’s always with you, sometimes you just don’t notice.
