With Father’s Day right around the corner, Matthew McConaughey has called all hands on deck to show support to all of the fathers who have played crucial roles in helping their kids grow.

For McConaughey, he noted that the most important value that his father ever taught him:

“Don’t half ass it.”

Obviously, Mr. Alright Alright Alright took those words in full force, as it helped mold him into one of the most inspirational icons on this planet.

Now, McConaughey is calling on some other famous friends to join him in sharing their father’s words of wisdom.

One in particular?

Guy Fieri, AKA the Mayor of Flavortown.

McConaughey posted Fieri’s video on Twitter, and the chef had this to say about the best lesson he ever learned from his dad:

“When I was a kid my dad used to quote Kenny Rogers, and he said ‘You gotta know when to hold ’em, and you gotta know when to fold ’em,’ basically saying ‘Don’t back up a stupid position kid.

If you did something wrong and you made a mistake, apologize, handle it, and move on. Also give a good firm handshake and look people in the eye when you’re talking to them.”

So there ya have it, turns out Fieri’s a country music guy too.

And it’s truly is a great life lesson though. Know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em… so simple, yet so relatable.

Of course, we gotta include the music video from the late, great Kenny himself:
