On This Date: George Strait Named Top Country Artist Of Last 25 Years

George Strait country music

On June 8th, 2010, a King was anointed.

Okay, we all know George Strait doesn’t need Billboard Magazine to award him anything, but I had to make the comment.

To coincide with their Country Music Summit in Nashville, Billboard Magazine announced the top Country Music artist of the past 25 years, based on the artist’s success on their album and song charts during the timeframe.

Garth Brooks came in second, followed by Reba, Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw.

Even though the other artists in the Top 5 are absolute legends in their own right, they just couldn’t compete with Strait’s numbers, having sold 68.5 Million Albums, 82 Top 10 Songs, 44 Number Ones, and a streak of at least one song in the Top 10 in each of the previous 30 year.

All of those are absolutely outrageous statistics that just prove one thing: George Strait is the undisputed King of Country Music.

Here we are, 11 years later, and George is still putting out some music, playing huge showsand even been named as a wanted collaboration partner for one of the biggest stars of today… Post Malone.

So, raise your glass of Código with me and let’s cheers to 25 more, King George.
